Owner’s Cat Killed by Contractors dog and holding them responsible.
1
Unfortunately, my first advocacy documentary was born out of a profound personal loss. A construction crew working across the street from my house left a dangerous contractor’s dog unleashed. The animal roamed off the construction site, crossed onto my private property, and tragically killed my cat. When the company met me with absolute silence, dodging questions and refusing to even apologize, I took matters into my own hands. I launched an independent media investigation.
I documented eyewitnesses to the attack and interviewed neighbors who confirmed the dangerous dog had been roaming onto their properties for weeks. Though the owner tried to hide his tracks and the corporate entity continued to lie to cover theirs as well, I refused to back down. I brought in a private investigator, located the owner, and secured video evidence that fully documented the incident. Fusing this footage with my background in PR strategy, I produced a hard-hitting short documentary. I then deployed the film as a strategic weapon directly threatening a widespread public campaign to dismantle the company’s operations and personal image if accountability was not met. This led to me opening a lawsuit with the documentary serving as a testament. — Khalif Bradley, Founder
Fighting Gentrification in America’s Most Affluent Black Neighborhood
2
When rapid gentrification started in View Park, America's most affluent Black neighborhood, I opened a critical public conversation that no one else was willing to start. As historical landmarks were being destroyed and families were priced out by changing demographics, I directed, produced, and entirely edited a groundbreaking investigative documentary entitled 'The Black Beverly Hills Part 2'. I interviewed life long residences of young and old, as well as new residences and their view on the changing demographics, and to make a statement for those being priced out.
The debut project completely disrupted the public landscape, amassing over 300,000 views on YouTube and getting picked up by mainstream news channels. The 30 minute documentary forced local government to erect official 'Historical Landmark' signs on neighborhood street poles to preserve our heritage. It stands as definitive proof that cinematic precision combined with sharp PR mechanics can force systemic change.
Hospitality Discrimination & Rapid-Response Advocacy
Afterlife Films was contacted by an African American family regarding an egregious racial profiling incident at a high-end luxury hotel. A 25-year-old Black male was staying at the establishment ironically to participate in a local racial advocacy campaign. When he approached the hotel bar for a drink. The hotel staff refused him service, falsely claiming he was underage, "looked suspicious," and had presented a fake ID. Shortly after, the young man’s aunt approached the same bartender. The staffer refused to serve her as well, aggressively claiming he "known" she would pass the drink to an underage minor despite having no knowledge of their relation and threatened to call law enforcement on her.
We approached this by conducting a case-by-case review with documented proof of the incident to build a counter-narrative. The young man presented his official passport that he showed the staffer, verifying he was well above the legal drinking age, proof of their hotel residency, and a copy of the written complaint the aunt had sent to management.
Fusing this evidence with our narrative design, we structured a hard-hitting 30-minute investigative documentary. We captured powerful on-camera interviews with both the young man and his aunt recounting the discriminatory event, and weaved in smartphone footage recorded by the aunt during the bartender's refusal of service.
Once post-production was finalized, we deployed our public relations mechanics as a defensive shield. We issued a formal letter to the hotel’s management team, presenting a strict ultimatum: address this immediately, or face a widespread, digital PR campaign and the public release of the documentary exposing the hotel's identity within full legal limits.
Faced with the reality of total exposure, the hotel's corporate management team broke their silence. Executives reached out directly to the aunt and nephew, profusely apologizing for the discrimination. Management confessed that the staffer's actions reflected a failure in how their team member was trained. To avoid a public relations crisis, the hotel forced the staffer to issue a formal apology alongside an immediate suspension, and fully compensated the family by wiping their entire room service balance and issuing a complimentary luxury stay. Though our clients were fully satisfied with this immediate settlement and chose to hold the film back from public distribution, they retains the completed documentary as permanent, documented proof and as a layer of protection should this situation ever arise again.
